How to Update the Description of Your Property Using Hostelworld Inbox

Keeping your property description accurate and engaging is one of the best ways to attract more guests.

We recommend reviewing and updating it regularly to make sure all the information you share is current, relevant, and appealing to travellers.

Step 1: Log in to Hostelworld Inbox

  1. Log in to your Hostelworld Inbox.

  2. Go to Microsite Content → Property Description.

  3. Enter or update your description text.

Once you submit your new description, our system automatically notifies the Hostelworld Support Team.

Step 2: Review and publication

Our team will review your changes to ensure they follow Hostelworld’s content guidelines.
Once approved, your updated description will be published and visible to customers on your property page.

💡 Remember: The better your content and customer experience, the higher your conversion rate!

Step 3: Keep your content fresh

Make sure to:

  • Update your content regularly to reflect any changes, renovations, or new amenities.

  • Remove references to past dates or events.

  • Avoid repeating information already covered in other sections (like policies or directions).

Important content rules ⚠️

  • Do not include contact details (phone number, email, social media).
These will be removed during review.
Guests receive your contact details automatically in their booking confirmation email.

  • If you need to update contact details, use the Contact Details section in Hostelworld Inbox.

  • Add any important policy information (e.g. age restrictions, reception hours) under:

    • Conditions → included in the guest confirmation email

    • Things to Note → displayed on your Hostelworld profile

📝 The “Things to Note” section is not editable — contact the Support Team if you need updates.

Step 4: Add translations

Adding your property description in multiple languages helps you reach more customers.
Over a third of Hostelworld users browse the site in their native language and often choose hostels with descriptions written in that language.

You can upload content in up to 19 languages.
The most popular ones among guests are: French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese.
