Property Owner: how can I keep my business safe online when partnering with Hostelworld?

How to stay safe online

Just like you create a safe space for travellers on the road, it’s important to stay safe online too.

While Hostelworld HQ has security controls in place to limit the effectiveness of Cyber Attacks, we cannot protect our partners directly. Here are some things to look out for to keep yourself and your business safe online:

  1. Watch out for websites posing as Hostelworld.com. Please make sure to check the domain information carefully and do not enter any information. Be wary of unsolicited emails from people posing as Hostelworld – any emails from Hostelworld will always have an email address ending in @hostelworld.com. If you have any doubt you can always email your Hostelworld Account Manager, to check if it’s us.
  2. Before clicking on any links in an email, put your mouse cursor over any links to ensure the domain does in fact resolve to a Hostelworld domain.
  3. Keep an eye out for emails trying to instill a false sense of urgency with unusual requests. Remember, you can always email us to check if it’s legitimate.
  4. Don’t trust coercive messages with content like "your listing will be deactivated”.
  5. If you do receive a suspicious email, remember to double-check who the email is from and never click on any links, or open suspicious looking attachments.
  6. It’s imperative to review all users accounts and deactivate any that are no longer in use.
  7. Please take action to ensure that any email address connected to your Hostelworld account is properly secured.
  8. If you haven’t reset your password recently for your Hostelworld account, please do so now and ensure it’s a strong & unique password.

If you suspect that communication is not legitimately coming from Hostelworld then please email your Hostelworld Account Manager.

If you suspect you’ve been scammed or given out information, please let us know so we can monitor your account. Your customers may be impacted and may reach out.
