Showcasing U.R.D.KI Hostel - India

U.R.D.Ki Hostel is a space that is trying to give back to the community since the start of it. We have designed our space utilising the waste that was available at the property. The old mattress has been used to create sofas with extra foam. The old PVC pipe, the poster boxes and the extra grass has been used to create lights. We use the old bottles, paint them & use it for keeping our flowers & adding greenery to the property. This also touches the guests and they have in turn implemented a few designs at their space too.

Recycling bins are available at every corner of the property and each & every room. The waste is segregated & composted. The dry waste is given to the local recycling hubs.

We recycle the cigarette butts collected at the hostel and send it to third party to segregate and make cushions from the cotton of the butt and that is used in our space.

We do not promote single use plastic and we have a clear policy of not selling water bottles. Every floor has a water dispenser filled with filtered water and every room has reusable bottles for guests to use. The community kitchen is equipped with reusable cutlery and utensils, has a dry and wet separate garbage bin.

The lighting throughout the property uses energy-efficient LED bulbs.

Our space offers offbeat tours about the local culture, food, heritage and biodiversity about the region hosted by local entrepreneurs and businesses. Local artists are offered a platform to display their talents and we provide guests with information regarding local ecosystems, heritage and culture.

Bicycle renting and parking spaces are available at our property to try to reduce the pollution.
